Five Reasons You Need A Caftan Like Now

Let’s get real for a minute, I love a caftan. I mean, what’s not to love? It’s like a socially acceptable Snuggie, a bedsheet with sleeves, a modern toga. And it’s the perfect thing to wear in the dead of summer. You can keep your Coastal Grandmas, your Girls both Feral and Hot, for this summer I am a Caftan Queen! And I think YOU should join me! We can sit in our flowy frocks and sip orange wine! Are people still drinking orange wine? Don’t know and don’t care! Still not convinced you should treat yourself to a caftan? Well here are five reasons I think you need one, and a few of my favorites on the market.

They’re Versatile

How many dresses can go from lounging on the couch to black tie wedding? What else do you own that works for WFH and cocktails? And believe me, there is no better garment for a dinner party, NO BETTER GARMENT.

There is just something about a lady in a caftan. It tells the world I may be stylish and sophisticated, I may possess a certain level of grandeur, but I a not afraid to tell a bawdy story or two. A woman in a caftan doesn’t need to chase trends or dress for the male gaze, she is the moment.

They’re Comfortable

They are a dream to wear. As I said way back in the second sentence of this piece, a caftan is basically a bedsheet with sleeves, making it hands down the most comfortable thing you can wear. Imagine going to an event and not worrying about visible panty lines, or shapewear, or a strapless bra, or constricting garment construction? The future is caftans! Smash the patriarchy!

They’re Easy

Looking to add some (literal) easy breezy to your closet? Look no further! A caftan is a complete outfit, as well as a complete vibe. Just throw on your caftan and you’re good to go.

They Work For Everyone

Whatever your size, shape, style, height, complexion, hair length, gender, or anything else, I know a caftan will look gorg on you. All that loose, shapeless fabric should not look good on everyone, and yet, it does.
