Retro Christmas Decor Trends We Love For 2022
There’s something about the holidays that just kicks nostalgia into full gear. We watch old movies (both Hollywood and home) and tv shows, listen to old music, pull out old decorations, and some of us even rehash decades old resentments…
Anyhoo, as a lover of vintage and vintage inspired, I love the mingling of retro and modern that happens at the holidays, and these are a few of my favorite Christmas decor trends.
Tinsel Christmas Trees
I have long been OBSESSED with silver tinsel trees. They’re like just the right amount of kooky. Some of my personal picks are HERE, HERE, and HERE.
Mercury Glass
Mercury in retrograde? Bad. Mercury glass? Good, great even. I saw a lot of mercury glass at my local Home Sense, but found some great online options HERE, HERE, and HERE.
Bottle Brush Christmas Trees
There is just something so gosh darn cute about bottle brush trees. And they’re perfect for small spaces that need a little holiday cheer. Check out my picks HERE, HERE, and HERE.
Flocked Christmas Trees
What is a flocked Christmas tree? It’s just a cute way of saying “fake snow”. You can make a concoction to flock your own (right here, babe) or you can buy a flocked tree HERE, HERE, or HERE. And a flocked wreath for good luck!
Shiny Brite Ornaments
“Shiny Brite” is not a poorly spelled description, its the name of the company that produced the ornaments in bright shiny colors and glittery designs that were incredibly popular in the 1940s and 50s. You can, of course find vintage Shiny Brite ornaments out in the wild (by “wild” I mean Ebay, Etsy, and yard sales), but Shiny Brite are still around (is still around? IDK). Macy’s has a great collection of Shiny Brite ornaments (HERE), and a few more options HERE and HERE.
Posing Next To The Tree
Ok, so this is not a current trend, nor is it necessarily decor, but think we should bring it back. When did we middle-aged ladies stop getting gussied up and posing in front of the tree? With all we do? We deserve a solo shot!
