What You Need To Know Before Buying A Gigi Pip Hat
Gigi Pip has been on my radar for a while now, but I’ve been biding my time because they’re pretty pricey. At least they are for me, I don’t know what your hat budget looks like. Like any millennial, I stalked their socials till their Valentine sale. I bit the bullet and bought two hats during their “buy one for you, one for your sweetie” sale. I AM MY OWN SWEETIE.
As the proud owner of a Cara Loren and a Ginger Gambler let me tell you there is no going back. I was a little worried they wouldn’t go with my wardrobe, but I’m happy to report I’ve worn them with everything from sweatsuits to dresses. I’ve yet to find an outfit they don’t work with.
Over the past few years I’ve bought multiple less expensive hats from stores like Urban Outfitters, Target, the Gap; and though they have been just fine, they come nowhere near the craftswomanship of Gigi Pip. I can’t believe I was in out in these streets in sub-par hats.
The Nitty Gritty
PRICE: The hats average around $100. BUT this year they’ve had pretty good Valentine’s (buy one get one one half off) and St. Patrick’s Day (spend $200 get a free hat) promos. There are multiple authorized Gigi Pip sellers, if you search on Instagram you may find a couple with active sales. You can also find plenty on Poshmark. If you’re worried about how a hat might fare being shipped by a non-pro, they’re pretty easy to reshape with some steam.
QUALITY: As previously mentioned, the quality is unmatched.
COMFORT: I’ve worn Gigi Pip hats to work for full eight hour days and they feel like a dream. No forehead marks, no itching.
SIZING I was a little worried about sizing, I mean they have a great return policy but I knew once I opened the hats I wouldn’t want to send them back. The hats range in size from XS (55 inches) to XL (61 inches). I thought I would have been a medium because I’ve been a medium in everything my entire life (average hive rise up), but the Foley head genes are strong and I’m a large. If you’re in between sizes or are unsure, size up because the hats have a hidden adjustable band that can make the hats a good bit smaller.
