No Shop February Update

March 2, 2021Heather

Well guys, I did it. I did No Shop February…kinda. I was MUCH better at not throwing my money around at my favorite stores, but in the interest of full disclosure I did breakdown and make a couple purchases.

  • Sweatsuit from Target: This was a necessity! I was babysitting my niece and nephew straight from work and I forgot to bring a change of clothes. I absolutely could not handle another four plus hours in skinny jeans (yup, still wearing them) and a button down shirt. I stopped by Target and bought a sweatsuit, that was on sale, thank you very much.
  • Bralette from Target: Remember when I said I couldn’t handle four more hours in skinny jeans and a button down? Well I couldn’t handle four more minutes in my bra. Also it was on sale for only $5.
  • L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara from Marshalls: You’re probably yelling “Heather, what were you even doing in Marshalls?”, and fair point, but I was buying a gift. While there I saw a two pack of one of my favorite mascaras for only $5.99. Seeing that a single tube is usually $10.99 how could I not grab it? Side note, drugstore mascara is so damn good now.
  • Iced Skinny Vanilla Latte from Starbucks: This purchase was 100% mindless. There was no line at the Target Starbucks and I thought to myself “no line, I should grab a latte, I haven’t had one in forever”. I was halfway through my drink when I realized the reason I had not had a Starbucks latte in forever is because I quit them for the month.

In conclusion, I definitely spent less money at my favorite stores in February, but I realized I still don’t know how much of my money is going where. So for March, my goal is not only stick with no shopping (I’m adding coffee purchases back because I’ll be out of town for work for a week), but budget and track my money so I know what’s going where. If anyone has any great budgeting or saving tips I would love to hear them!
