Easy Home Makeover For The Over 40 Crowd
Let’s talk about an easy home makeover…
You know when you’re sitting in your living room (or any room really) reading, mediating, watching old RHONY or whatever you do, and something just feels off? Like you suddenly realize your space isn’t quite reflecting the fabulous human being you are? We’ve all been there! And we want to make big sweeping changes immediately when that realization sets in, don’t we? But guess what? You don’t need a full-blown renovation to give your home a fresh look and feel. Let’s dive into some easy, affordable ways to breathe new life into your nest.
Declutter, Declutter, Declutter
I know, I know, we’ve heard it a million times. But seriously, it’s the foundation of any good home makeover; however big or small. Start by going through your stuff and asking yourself, “Do I love it? Do I use it?” If the answer is no, donate, sell, or toss. A clutter-free space feels lighter and more inviting, trust me.
Rethink Your Walls
A fresh coat of paint can work wonders. But if you’re not ready for that level of commitment , try adding some personality with wall art. Mix it up with photos, prints, or even a gallery wall. And don’t be afraid to go bold. I know nothing about art (other than the Isabella Stewart Gardner heist), but I think the best wall art gives everyone in your home a glimpse of who you are. Your home should reflect your style, that’s the only assignment!
Textiles Are Your Friend
The true key to an easy home makeover? Textiles. Throw pillows, blankets, and rugs can completely transform a room without breaking the bank. New fabrics can add color, texture, and a VIBES. Plus they are an easy, and less expensive way to change things up with the seasons, or with your moods, whatevs.
Bring The Outside In
Plants are Mother Nature’s mood boosters! Even if you don’t possess a green thumb, there are plenty of low-maintenance options out there. Personally, I’m not killing three plants right now as we speak. A few well-placed plants can instantly liven up a space. Oh and don’t forget about fresh flowers! They add a touch of luxury to any room.
Rearrange The Furniture
Sometimes all it takes is a little switch-up to give a room a fresh perspective . Move your couch (not by yourself you knucklehead), rotate your chairs, or try a different layout in your bedroom. You might be surprised at how much a simple change can make a big difference…that goes for life too, not just home decor.
About a million years ago, on an episode of her show, Oprah said everyone deserves to have a room they love. For whatever reason that really struck me and I remind myself of it when I’m feeling a particular way. Now go forth and create a space that you absolutely adore!
