Cool, Calm, And Collected: Easy Ways To Calm Down
Let’s talk about easy ways to calm down…
Life can sometimes throw us a curveball, and in those moments it’s essential to have a few tricks up our sleeves to find our zen. Whether it’s work stress, family chaos, or just the general hustle and bustle of life, we need a little calm in our lives. So grab a cup of tea (but only if that helps you calm down of course) and let’s chat about some easy ways to calm down.
Breathe In, Breathe Out
I know, duh, right? It sounds simple because it is. Taking slow, deep breaths is like hitting the reset button for your body and mind. Inhale for a count of four, hold for four, exhale for four. Repeat until you no longer want to burn a building down (just me?). It’s like mini meditation, and you can do it anywhere.
Find Your Happy Place
Visualization is a powerful tool for relaxation. Close your eyes and imagine your favorite peaceful place – a beach, the forest, or even a cozy reading nook somewhere. Take a mental vacation and let your worries melt away.
Tea Time
Did you think I was going to say golf? I mean, you can do that if you want, but in this case I’m talking about herbal tea. Sipping on a cup of hot tea makes you slow down for a minute, so curl up on the couch with a cup and maybe a good book and watch let the worries of the day melt away.
Stretch It Out
A little bit of stretching can work wonders for calming your nerves. Roll your shoulders, reach for the sky, or do a simple yoga pose. Your body and mind will thank you.
Journal It Out
Writing down your thoughts and feelings can be incredibly therapeutic. Get yourself a pretty notebook and jot down what’s on your mind. It’s like unloading onto a a close, trusted friend; you’ll be amazed at how much lighter you feel.
Disconnect
I know this sounds absolutely terrible, but maybe you should put away your screens. Put your phone on silent, turn off the tv, close the laptop; whatever you have to do to disconnect from the digital world for a little while. Unplugging can do wonders for your mental well-being.
Treat Yourself
Last but not least, indulge in a little self care. Whether it’s a warm bath, your favorite piece of chocolate, a soothing face mask or, my current obsession, some ice rollers; treating yourself to a lovely way to calm down and recharge.
So while no woman ever calmed down after someone told her to calm down, it doesn’t mean we’re not capable of calming down. By having a few easy ways to calm down in our back pocket, we’re always only a couple minutes away from being a little more blissed out. My notebook is always on hand and my ice rollers are always in the freezer. We’ve got the power to stay calm.cool, and collected.
