7 Tips You Need For Morning Workouts
If there’s one thing we can agree on, it’s mornings suck…especially freezing cold winter mornings. Your alarm goes off, you’re waken from a peaceful slumber and expected to be a productive member of society. Rude. As hard as it is to get up in the morning, they are, unfortunately, prime workout time for most of us. If you haven’t quite mastered your early morning workouts, I have a few tips that will get you on track, and maybe even on the track!
Eat The Frog
This is Mark Twain slang for “just do it”. He said if you’ve got eating a frog on your to do list, it’s best to just suck up and eat the frog first thing. As someone who has been a morning workout person, a lunchtime workout person, and an evening workout person; I can confirm it’s best to just get up and get it over with. Something will always pop up and make it easy to say you’re too busy, wake up and eat the damn frog.
Prep the night before
Iron your clothes, dry shampoo your hair, get your water, coffee, breakfast, and lunch for the next day ready so you can just wakeup and work out. Hell wear your workout gear to bed if you want, anything that makes it easier on you in the morning.
Go to bed
You know you need your sleep, but you gotta up hella early to squat your way to a high tight ass. Sorry, I don’t make the rules.
Be realistic
You’re not Tom Brady, you don’t need to wakeup at 3am to start your five hour fitness routine, You don’t need an hour plus, you can get a good workout in in twenty minutes. Concentrate on strength training and don’t waste time.
Don’t hit snooze
No one loves snooze more than me, NO ONE. I think hitting snooze and then rolling over and going back to sleep is one of life’s great pleasures. That being said, it’s not good for you or your morning workout.
Have a plan
Don’t just grab a dumbbell and figure it out as you go along. Have your routine ready to go for at least that morning, but planning your workouts for the whole month is the way to go.
Think of how good it will feel to be done
One of the best things about morning workouts? I get to spend the rest of the day in smug satisfaction because I’ve done more by 7am than most people will do all day. I never said I wasn’t petty.
