Chakras For Beginners: How To Find Your Inner Zen
Let’s talk about chakras for beginners…
Have you ever said that your chakras were off in an attempt to explain why you were feeling just a little wonky even though you had no idea what chakras are? You’re not alone…and also you were probably right!
What Even Are Chakras?
First things first, let’s break it all down, what the heck are chakras? Chakras are the energy wheels in our bodies that help keep the cosmic engine running. Think of them like micro mood rings, each one giving insight into how a particular part of your body is doing. We have seven main chakras, starting at the base of your spine and working up to the tippy-top of your head. Now let’s get into the specifics!
Muladhara: The Root Chakra
Picture it, Sicily…just kidding, but picture yourself barefoot in a garden, feeling the earth beneath your feet; that’s the root chakra. Muladhara, the root chakra, is all about grounding, stability, and security. Your root chakra keeps you, well, rooted, and ready to tackle life’s craziness.
Svadhisthana: The Sacral Chakra
Svadhistha, the sacral chakra, is located just below the belly button and it’s like your pleasure center. This chakra is all about creativity, sensuality, and zest for life; ooh la la!
Manipura: The Solar Plexus Chakra
Ever get a “gut feeling” about something? That’s your Manipura, or solar plexus chakra doing its thing. Located right in your stomach, the solar plexus chakra is confidence and power, telling you what you need to get out and conquer the world.
Anahata: The Heart Chakra
The Anahata, or heart chakra, is located in the heart (no duh) and is associated with unconditional love, compassion, and attachment. The heart chakra is responsible for the life force energy that flows through our bodies, important stuff!
Vishuddha: The Throat Chakra
Ready to speak your truth? Call upon your Vishuddha, or throat chakra. Located in your throat (another duh), the throat chakra is connected to self-expression and communication. All the Real Housewives must work on their throat chakras because they LOVE to speak their truth.
Ajna: The Third Eye Chakra
Ever feel like you have a psychic connection to the universe? That’s your Ajna, or third eye chakra. Nestled between your eyebrows, your third eye chakra is your mystical center and is all about intuition and wisdom.
Sahasrara: The Crown Chakra
Last but not least, the Sahasrara, or the crown chakra. The crown chakra sits right on top of your head and is your connection to the divine, the universe and your spiritual self. Think of it as your literal crown, my fellow spiritual queen.
Like any and everything else in life, the key is to have balanced chakras; each running like a well-oiled machine. So listen to your body, your intuition, and your chakras, they know what’s up!
