Yoga Over 40: 5 Reasons To Roll Out Your Mat And Rock Your Asanas
Let’s talk about yoga over 40…
If you haven’t yet started prioritize your health and wellness, ding dong a reminder is here. That reminder is me BTW. And if you are starting to prioritize your health and wellness, have you tried yoga? It’s a great a choice for any age, but especially those of us over 40. Yoga is an amazing way to boost your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing, basically all the beings. Long story short, yoga is the GOAT and here are a few reasons I think we should both start doing it.
Age Is Just A Number, But Flexibility Counts
You might not be as flexible as you were in your twenties, who cares? Yoga is like your personal time machine, taking you all the way back you your bendy days. Those “oh no I can’t touch my toes” moments? Gone! With consistency and practice, you’ll be twisting and bending yourself into a pretzel in no time…individual results may vary.
Zen Out For Mental Clarity
Life in your 40s can get a bit chaotic. Between work, family, friends, and everything in between, it’s easy to feel like you can’t keep up with all the plate spinning. Yoga can be your (momentary) escape from the circus! There is no better way to find zen amidst chaos. By adding yoga to your weekly routine you’re on your way to a calm, collected you.
Emotional Resilience? Namaste!
We all have those moments where our emotions are all over the place. It’s called being human, people! But yoga teaches you to embrace your feelings without letting them rule your world. You’ll discover an emotional resilience you didn’t know you had. The next time life throws a curveball your way, you’ll handle it with grace and serenity.
Hello, Core Strength, Goodbye Midlife Crisis!
Midlife crises are overrated. Instead of splurging on a sports care, invest in your core strength with yoga! Those core-strengthening poses are like a natural facelift for your midsection. Soon enough you’ll be looking and feeling like you found the fountain of youth.
Community And Camaraderie
Yoga isn’t just about striking poses in isolation; it’s also about building a supportive community. You’ll meet amazing people who share your journey, and together you’ll laugh, groan, and celebrate your progress. Making new friends can be scary, by taking regular yoga classes you’re introducing yourself to a pool of potential friends. Who says yoga class can’t be followed by coffee or even cocktails!
Yoga isn’t just for the ultra-flexible, the super-serene, or the ultra-spiritual. It’s for us normies too!
