5 Outfits That Prove Velvet Is The Superior Holiday Fabric
One of my favorite things about the holidays? Getting dressed! I feel like the time between Thanksgiving and New Years gives us a license to pull out all the stops when we get dressed…and one of my favorite stops? Velvet.
Velvet is not only comfy and cozy, velvet is also incredibly chic, regal even. I wear it two and half seasons a year (like half of spring is still velvet weather IMHO), but I really WEAR it during the holidays. If you’re thinking about tipping your toe in the velvet lake (that sounds a little sapphic), here are some outfits to get you started.
Velvet Slip Dress
Oooooohhhh we’re starting strong with Rihanna! I love the juxtaposition of her slinky slip dress and oversized leather jacket…also I think “wine glass toting Rihanna” is going to be my 2023 aesthetic. Shop similar HERE, HERE, and HERE.
Velvet Blazer
I firmly believe velvet is about as rock and roll as you can get. And who knew embellished combat boots could look so festive? Shop similar blazers HERE, HERE, and HERE.
Velvet Skirt
A velvet skirt paired with a chunky sweater? Is there a more classic winter duo? Shop similar HERE, HERE, and HERE.
Velvet Wide Leg Pants
Red velvet might be the perfect holiday choice because it says holiday without being too literal. We do not need trees, snowmen, candy canes, etc. Shop similar HERE, HERE, HERE.
Velvet Wrap Dress
I’m not really one for subscribing to clothes being “flattering”, BUT I will say I think wrap dresses look amazing on pretty much everyone. And with a little (faux) fur accoutrement? Nothing better.
